6 Books To Get To Know Me

It’s currently raining, and I’m sipping on hot chocolate while I write this blog. I saw this cute trend on Instagram about posting Six Books That Describe You, and as I’m a sucker for self-expression, I had to jump on the bandwagon.

The books I chose were:

  1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The reason I chose this book was that it’s one of my favourite books and movies. It’s tragically sad, but Gatsby’s dedication to Daisy resonated with me. I’m a hopeless romantic, and when I love, I love hard. I also enjoyed learning about the extravagant parties and fashion from the 1920s.

  2. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. This book is simply beautiful! Hello, forever love! This is definitely one of my favourite books, and I love how Sparks built sexual tension between Allie and Noah while they were cooking in the kitchen—that was hot. Also, this book has the best ending ever written, in my opinion. To die beside the one you love at an old age together is just goals.

  3. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. I loved this book so much that I had to buy the box series. The story was very sweet and witty, and it explored themes that resonated with me. I also loved learning about everyone’s extravagant lifestyles.

  4. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. This book is just amazing. Liane is a phenomenal writer, and she inspired me to start writing books. I own every book she has written, but what made me love Big Little Lies so much was that it discussed what truly happens behind closed doors—not everything is as it seems. Sometimes the most perfect couples are hiding dark secrets. Just amazing!

  5. Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen FieIding. It’s the humour that got me and Bridget’s characterisation. She was so real and relatable, and I loved the love triangle in this book. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched the movie, and I buy special edition covers of the book when they’re released because I love it so much.

  6. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I love George’s writing style and his characters. The characters are so real, relatable, and flawed. They’re just terrific. My favourite character was Daenerys. The fact that she went from being used and abused to being the powerful Mother of Dragons was so inspiring and amazing. She was also stunning and so caring to her people. I haven’t read all the books, just the first, but I watched the whole TV series. I hated the last season though, and felt like it ruined the story.
